On March 14, 2022, the Chairman of the Board of the Copyright Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kamran Imanov received the Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Creative Industries Federation, Vasif Eyvazzade.
At the meeting, opinions were exchanged on issues of support for development in the field of creative industries, protection of intellectual property rights and legal education in this field.
The Chairman of the Board of the Agency, Kamran Imanov pointed out that the share of the creative industry in the GDP is currently 5.3% and that there is a wide potential for this field to play a greater role in our national economy, and noted that relevant work has been carried out by the Agency in this field in recent years. Thus, it was emphasized that the new structure of the Agency was formed, the legal base in the field was improved, a number of educational actions and trainings were organized, and books and brochures related to the field were printed and distributed.
Kamran Imanov, the Chairman of the Board of the Agency, then, referring to the Charter of the Agency, cited the action directions of increasing the role of intellectual property in the modern economy and improving the investment environment in the copyright-based economy (creative economy), commercializing the results of intellectual activity and determining the share of the creative economy in the country’s gross domestic product, as well as the transfer of technologies, and other provisions of taking measures related to the creation of innovation support and commercialization infrastructure, as well as organizing trainings, round tables for investors investing in the results of intellectual activity, and providing them with legal advice on the provision of intellectual property rights, in this direction pointed out that they intended to cooperate closely with the Federation.
Vasif Eyvazzade emphasized that the Federation was established for the purpose of organizing and developing the field of creative industries, he stated that they set the priority of increasing awareness about the protection of intellectual property rights and cooperation with the Agency as the main partner in promotion work in this field.
At the meeting, an agreement was reached on the preparation of a document defining the framework of mutual cooperation and the directions of action and on conducting discussions on the implementation of specific projects.
