On the order of the Ministry of Culture, with the support of Azerbaijan Creative Industries Federation, a training course on the
1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict was organized by “Global Communications and Innovations” company within the framework of the “Heritage Governance Skills Development” training program ended today.
The trainer, Senior Lecturer in Law at University of Essex, Doctor of Philosophy in Law Dr. Marina Lostal talked about criminal acts related to cultural resources, issues of adaptation required in national criminal legislation, destruction of cultural property in the context of war crimes at the international level, responsibility of military commanders, prosecution of crimes against humanity, genocide, jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court. Also, a thematic quiz, case studies on special exemplary scenarios, and a question-and-answer session were organized. In the last part, Dr. Marina Lostal further strengthened the learned knowledge by discussing the topics of the 3 training days with the participants one by one.
Vasif Eyvazzade, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Azerbaijan Creative Industries Federation, Head of the Training Program, congratulated the training participants on their successful participation in the training course and informed them about the
National Heritage Platform (“Heritage Azerbaijan” / “Heritage Azerbaijan” platform) announced within the program, and expressed his hope that the participants of this course will actively participate by taking place on the platform. V. Eyvazzade informed about the next training courses that will be held in the future, and noted that he believes that the participants of all training courses, as graduates of Heritage trainings, will be the leading force in the National Heritage Platform. At the end, the participants of the training course were awarded with certificates.
The training course was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Defense, the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Culture, the State Tourism Agency, the State Urban Planning and Architecture Committee, the Special Delegation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the liberated territories included in the Karabakh Economic Region, the State Reserve Department of the city of “Shusha”, Representatives of Mine Actions Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Administration of State Historical-Architectural Reserve “Icherisheher”, relevant institutes of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, University of Architecture and Construction and ADA University.
