The training course on The UNESCO 1970 Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property started.
On December 23, the next – 5th training course was launched within the framework of the “Heritage governance skills development” training program implemented by “Global Communications and Innovations” company on the order of the Ministry of Culture, and in partnership with the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Creative Industries Federation. The subject of the training course covers The UNESCO 1970 Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property.
Mr. Vasif Eyvazzade, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Azerbaijan Creative Industries Federation, Head of the Training Program, opened the training course, welcomed the participants and talked about the “Heritage Azerbaijan” national platform where the participants of the training courses and trainer experts gathered for the previous four training courses within the framework of the “Heritage governance skills development” training program. First, he talked about the goals of the training and the components of the learning process, and informed about the main directions and principles of the Convention. Necessary activities on prevention, restitution and international cooperation were presented and special questionable points were clarified in the form of a discussion with the training participants.
In the second half of the day, the training course was held by Mr. Ilkin Huseynzade, Chief Inspector of the Passenger Corridor Management Department of the State Customs Committee, on practical work and procedures at the Customs border in connection with the Convention, as well as the head of the Museum and movable cultural heritage sector of the Museum, Gallery and Exhibitions Department of the Ministry of Culture, Doctor of Philosophy in Art Studies, Ms. Altun Mikayilli continued with presentation on work in Museum institutions, export certificates and restitution practices.
The training course was attended by the participants from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and its subordinate cultural institutions, the State Tourism Agency, Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, the Special Representations of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the liberated territories of the Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur Economic Regions, Shusha City State Reserve conservation department, the “Icherisheher” State Historical-Architectural Reserve Administration, Heydar Aliyev Center, Institute of Manuscripts of ANAS, State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage.
