The third day of the “Heritage Governance Skills Development” training course was held within the framework of the 1972 UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, and representatives of relevant institutions in the field of heritage governance of our country participated in the training course.
The instructor of the third day of the training course, local consultant of the EU4CULTURE project, cultural heritage expert Gunay Rzazade, explained the legal administrative frameworks that are imperative for the member countries at the local, national and international levels with real examples based on the specific provisions of the Convention. She also informed in her session about the importance of promoting the diversity of cultural heritage with interactive methods, the participation of local communities in the protection and development of heritage, the possibilities of international cooperation and assistance, as well as the SWOT analysis of heritage management in the context of the country, and a question-and-answer session was held on specific questions.
The training program ordered by the Ministry of Culture, implemented in partnership with the State Tourism Agency, “Icherisheher” State Historical-Architectural Reserve Department and with the support of Azerbaijan Creative Industries Federation covers four main topics: “The best in cultural heritage as places that reflect national/local identity and contribute to the economic development of society practices”, “Cultural heritage policy and institutions: Themes and notes from the convention”, “Tangible and Intangible Heritage and Sustainable Development”, and “The role of cultural heritage in the socio-cultural development of the society (best practices, challenges and opportunities)” and will contribute to increasing the competence and skills of the participants in this field, as well as the effective organization of international cultural and creative activities and development of our country. The training program will continue and end tomorrow, June 17.
