“Azerbaijan Design Award” competition ended
On June 22, the final event of the III “Azerbaijan Design Award” competition of local and international designers was held at the Baku Congress Center.
Before the event, which was held with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the partnership of Azerbaijan Creative Industries Federation and Azerbaijan Designers Association, the guests got acquainted with the exhibition of works presented by various design organizations and nominations.
Speaking at the event, First Deputy Minister of Culture Elnur Aliyev said that we, as a nation, have always been engaged in design work in this geography and history: “Our ancestors who lived in these lands before us always designed the state, flag, ideas, and philosophy. It has become a part of our culture over time. In the new page of our history, great responsibility falls on us and the generations after us. The fact that we can comfortably hold such events here today is primarily the result of the efforts of our brave Army and soldiers under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev. We made a big change in the design of this geography with the lands freed from occupation with this determination to win. In order to protect this Victory and determination and to claim our cultural heritage, each of us must be professional in our field.”
Elnur Aliyev noted that one of the main goals of the Ministry of Culture is to contribute to our economy with the development of this field by supporting the creative industry, and also to ensure the access of our creative people to the world. Speaking about the importance of the event, the first deputy minister emphasized that such meetings are helpful in discovering new talents and creative thinkers. He pointed out that this year, based on the proposal of the Ministry of Culture regarding the declaration of 2022 as the “Year of Shusha” by President Ilham Aliyev, the topic of Shusha was added to the categories of the design competition.
Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Federation Creative Industries (ACIF) Vasif Eyvazzade gave extensive information about the activities of the Federation. He emphasized that improvement and modernization of education in this field is the need of the day. He also drew attention to the importance of implementing inclusivity in the field of design through the initiative of ACIF.
Chairman of Azerbaijan Designers Association Rahim Ismayil, deputy chairman Ramin Nasirov, artist Faig Ahmed, designers Knyaz Yagubov, Nizami Agha shared their views on the competition.
After the speeches, The winners of I, II and III places of “Year of Shusha”, “Industry”, “Application”, “Interior”, “Exterior”, “Advertising”, “Illustration”, “Packaging design”, “Branding”, “Web”, “Print” design nominations were announced.
It should be noted that the “Azerbaijan Design Award” competition, held since 2018, gathers the country’s largest live design audience and contributes to the work done in the direction of the development of the design field. The competition, which is organized free of charge for local and international designers, aims to develop design skills and reveal talented individuals in the country. Within the framework of the competition, projects presented by local and foreign designers on various topics are evaluated by an international jury, including experts from Azerbaijan.
